lately I've been having this odd craving for cereal. I'm such a freak when it comes to packaged items I rarely ever buy them + I knew no matter what I wasn't going to feel my best eating boxed cereal so I had to take matters into my own hands. voila! this "rawnola" did just the trick. rawnola is super simple to make, really good for you, especially after a workout to help refuel + rebuild your muscles OH + it tastes DAMNNNNNN GOOD. here's how to make this at home -

what to do on a rainy monday morning - scroll through Instagram, blog, drink lots + lots of coffee, music + be too lazy to make breakfast but also thankful that you made some bliss balls that you can enjoy in bed right out of the jar!
idk who the hell came up with the name "bliss balls" I feel so weird saying that. like hey come have a ball of bliss? what? so weird. anyway I do kind of understand why that name suits them, because as soon as you bite into them you feel like your somewhat in heaven its just BLISS. how could these simple balls made from just basiccccc ingredients be so delicious? + it takes zero effort to make them - so there ya have it, I think that's why they're named that. ANYWAY these are chocolate cinnamon maca balls + they're on point make em': makes 6-8 depending on size 1 cup organic rolled oats 2 tablespoons organic almond butter 2 tablespoons coconut oil 2 tablespoons organic maca powder (optional SUPERFOOD) 1 tablespoon raw cacao powder 1 teaspoon cinnamon in your food processor pulse the oats until they turn into a crumby consistency. now add in the rest of the ingredients (except the raw cacao powder) pulse pulse pulse away until you have a sticky crumby concoction. scoop out 1 tablespoon of mixture + roll it into a ball + place it on a plate + repeat. grab another plate + put 1 tablespoon of raw cacao powder on it then roll your balls in the powder to lightly coat them. throw in a jar + keep in the fridge for the week or enjoy them right away! if you don't like grilled cheese, you must be super strange + if your afraid to change your diet to a more plant based diet because you're absolutely obsessed with it DON'T FRET. this will make you forget about any other grilled cheese you've ever had.
I heated Terra Delyssa organic garlic infused olive oil in a pan then placed my ezekiel bread in. put two pieces of Feild Roast "chao" vegan cheese on one slice threw some Organic Girl spinach on top + topped the other slice with some Emerald Valley greek olive + garlic hummus + some of my homemade kale pesto then sandwiched the bread together and covered with a lid for about 2 minutes on each side. (all of these brands are tagged on my Instagram post - @somewhat_vegan) KALE PESTO: 2 cups organic kale 1/2 cup raw walnuts 2 cloves garlic juice of half a lemon 1/4 cup nutritional yeast 1/2 teaspoon pink salt 2 tablespoons melted coconut oil in a food processor pulse the kale + walnuts until they are chopped. add in lemon juice, coconut oil, garlic, nutritional yeast + salt pulse until all ingredients are chopped + combined. this makes the perfect pesto for pasta, zoodles or even grilled cheese! will stay good in a mason jar in the refrigerator for 5 days. so if you're anything like me + love sweets all day errday these banana freezer pops are going to be life changing. they're perfect for when you hit snooze too many times + you're about to be late for your trainer, 8 AM math class or of course... work! they also help at night when your sweet tooth has got you lurking around the kitchen a few hours after dinner because they're super healthy but will satisfy allllll the cravings
CHOCOLATE: (makes enough for 8 banana pops)
to make chocolate sauce simply melt coconut oil over medium-low heat in a small sauce pan. once oil has melted completely slowly whisk in maple syrup + cacao powder + the chocolate sauce is ready. now dip your banana pop into the chocolate sauce + dip in or cover pop in whatever toppings you desire. place back onto parchment paper + continue with each pop. place pops in the freezer for at least 1 hour before enjoying. leave me comments if you try this recipe + tag me on Instagram with pictures of your creations! @somewhat_vegan LINKS TO THE BRANDS I USED: cacao powder- www.sunfood.com/cacao-powder-1lb-organic-raw.html?utm_source=google_shopping&gclid=CjwKEAjw8Jy8BRCE0pOC9qzRhkMSJABC1pvJQPbnVJVDn0dtt-Q6kCYU642hXmPqs2kn08NlegCQjxoC8qXw_wcB coconut oil- http://www.artisanaorganics.com/coconut/coconut-oil/ maple syrup- mycadia.com/product.php?p=Food&c=Staples&s=1075 granola- purelyelizabeth.com/product/ancient-grain-granola-original/ almond butter- shop.justins.com/Classic-Almond-Butter/p/JNB-000315&c=Justins@NutButters chia seeds- www.mammachia.com/ hemp seeds- store.nutiva.com/hempseed/ so this recipe was not completely made up in my head. I had a little inspiration from a similar recipe created by @rachlmansfield (heyyy thanks girl) but anyway these may be the easiest desserts I've ever made + they're super delish + completely GUILT FREE + only use 7 simple ingredients. personally I would have been fine with eating the "batter" right out of my food processor BUT then I wouldn't have these #foodporn pictures to show off to y'alllllll. you've gotta try, my family went crazy for 'em! BROWNIE:
(8 "brookies") in your food processor pulse walnuts until they are chopped into fine pieces next add in cinnamon + cacao + maca powder then pulse again until powders are combined. next add dates + pulse until the mixture sticks together well. put mixture into brownie pan + pat down with fingers until evenly smooth + set aside. in your food processor pulse cashews + almond butter until the mixture looks "cumby" next add in coconut oil maca powder + dates. pulse until mixture is well combined + is the same consistency as brownie "batter". spoon cookie batter on top of your brownies + pat down with your fingers until evenly smooth. place "brookies" in your refrigerator to set for at least 30 minutes. slice + enjoy! I topped these off with a peanut butter drizzle because I'm an addict + I've accepted it. to make PB drizz: combine 2 tablespoons PB2 powder with 1 tablespoon water. LINKS TO THE BRANDS I USED -

(just thought I'd throw that fact in for all you peeps that don't believe that healthy "cheese" can taste bomb) i'll link everything I used below so you can make this exact dish at home for your cheese loving family members + blow their minds too.. hehe you're welcome RECIPE: (serves 4) total time - 25 minutes
boil pasta according to instructions on bag. while pasta is cooking wash cut + steam whole head of cauliflower for about 8 minutes or until you can easily stick a fork into. rinse + drain pasta then place back into pot. in your high powered blender combine steamed cauliflower, milk, lemon juice salt + pepper. blend for 1-2 minutes until smooth + creamy. add broccoli (I used frozen) to pasta then pour "cheese" sauce on top + cook over low heat for 2 minutes constantly mixing. THAT'S IT. creamy homemade healthy mac + cheese in under a half hour. show me your creations by tagging me on Instagram + let me know if you enjoyed this recipe - @somewhat_vegan xx BRANDS USED IN THIS RECIPE: Cadia organic pasta - mycadia.com/product.php?p=Food&c=Staples&s=32144#!/12793 Cadia organic frozen broccoli - mycadia.com/product.php?p=Food&c=Frozen%20Foods&s=21284#!/967166 Braggs nutritional yeast - bragg.com/products/bragg-premium-nutritional-yeast-seasoning-salt-free.html Whole foods organic white pepper - www.instacart.com/whole-foods/products/49850-365-organic-ground-white-pepper-1-69-oz *plant based milk was my homemade cashew milk as most of you know I love to prep my meals. I do not prep every single meal every single week because I'm not perfect but I do try to prep breakfasts or dinners on the days that I work.. aaaaand it makes my life SO much easier - I save $$$ because lets face it chia pudding, oatmeal, smoothies or smoothie bowls from a store or cafe are gonna cost you around $6-$10 which ain't always affordable + the food that is affordable is not always going to be the best for you + I mean I know you can always just go buy a granola bar to hold you over for the day for $2 but lets be real people that is not very exciting .. ANYWHO, my favorite breakfast to prep is chia seed pudding just because its always delicious, super filling, packed with protein to keep me full until lunch + it takes legit 5 minutes to prep - this maple cinnamon flavor is bomb.com + only uses 5 ingredients, I mean who wouldn't want the taste of pancakes in their mouth without all the super sluggish feels after?! chia seeds may not look like much but after they sit in liquid for a few hours they form a thick jelly pudding consistency around them which makes for the perfect instant pudding. thanks to the world for getting a little bit smarter I've been seeing more organic superfoods in every store from walmart to target and even marshalls! you can buy chia seeds anywhere now + they're not super pricey. I order mine from thrive market + the brand I use is mammachia - 100% organic! they've been my favorite lately + they're super affordable. I'll link their website below so you can get your breakfast prep on - YAYYYYYY RECIPE: (1 serving) 1/4 cup Mammachia chia seeds 1/2 cup plant based milk 2 tablespoons Cadia organic maple syrup 2 tablespoons Simply Organic cinnamon 1 teaspoon Simply Organic vanilla extract SUPERFOOD BOOST OPTION - 1 tablespoon organic maca powder (I use thrive market brand) combine ingredients into a mason jar, give a good mix with a spoon then top with sealed lid + give another good shake for about 20 seconds. place in the refrigerator to sit over night or for at least 4 hours + you're good to go. In the morning throw some walnuts on top + you've got yourself the best breakfast evaaaaa LINKS TO BRANDS I USE: chia seeds- www.mammachia.com/our-products/ maple syrup- mycadia.com/product.php?p=Food&c=Staples&s=1075 vanilla + cinnamon- www.simplyorganic.com/simply-organic-pure-vanilla-extract www.simplyorganic.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=cinnamon take pictures of your own creations + tag me on Instagram if you give this recipe a try - @somewhat_vegan xx I mean who really buys bottled salad dressings anymore? they're filled with so much junk it's pretty much pointless to eat a salad after drowning it with oil, salt and preservatives. I know everyone's thinking eating healthy is already so much more work now you're telling me I have to make my own dressing?? I promise you, it takes 5 minutes and you will not regret it. legit thought of this one while staring into my fridge + having absolutely nothing to top my salad with except for dates and strawberries.. then I thought omggggg why don't I make a bomb ass dressing with them instead?! so that is what I did + girrrrrl the tartness of the balsamic combined with the sweetness of the strawberries and dates pair so well together it totally made up for me only having sunflower seeds... I'm pathetic I know, I'm off to the grocery store after this post goes up, I swear! DRESSING:
(I use about 2 oz for a salad.) this will last for 5 days in the refrigerator. my favorite snack on a rainy morning is always toast + coffee. toast is great because the options you have are endless and I mean who doesn't love some good old CARBS. of course my carbs of choice are always organic and sprouted (white girl probs) today I chose to smother my ezekiel toast in PB2 and strawberries to get those PB+J vibes without too much guilt and unnecessary fats. and it was dayum good.
on to my bullet proof coffee - I'm sure by now you've all heard of people thriving off of BPC. I've seen a bunch of different ways to make it but basically it's just black coffee with coconut oil/grass fed butter/ghee (completely up to you). It pretty much just gets everything going... for my BPC I choose organic coffee (Trader Joes sumatra blend, Green Mountain Coffee or Newmans Own Organic) then I add in 1 tablespoon of Trader Joes organic coconut oil and simply organic cinnamon (if I feel a sweet tooth coming on I'll add a teaspoon on Trader Joes organic coconut sugar).
